Red was the color of the night when it came to gowns, but there was hardly a red lip to be seen on any star at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. Instead, we spotted a sea of pink, plum, fuchsia and nude pouts; here are the 11 ladies whose lip colors we loved and the exact shade they were wearing.

Amy Adams: To ensure that her delicate blush Marchesa gown didn’t wash her out, Adams’s makeup artist, Stephen Sollitto, went for a richer lip. He applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Plum Orchid underneath the line’s Lip Glacé in Raspberry for a hint of shine. The results? One pretty pink pout.

Hannah Simone: The New Girl actress made a vampy statement with a rich wine-stained pout — just like fellow TV star Kaley Cuoco — achieved with Tom Ford lipstick in Crimson Noir. “I really wanted to create a contrast to her silver dress,” Marina Gravani, celebrity makeup and waxing expert for European Wax Center, tells PEOPLE. “This edgy look is all about a bold lip and full, fierce eyelashes.”

Jessica Alba: Alba’s makeup artist Lauren Andersen used the star’s juicy melon Oscar de la Renta dress as inspiration. She chose Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid lipstick in Rivera, a vibrant tangerine hue. “I loved the contrast between her glowing skin and the matte orange lip,” she says.

Zooey Deschanel: “We always love to go very ’60s with Zooey’s makeup,” says makeup artist Jorjee Douglas. “We look at Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy for inspiration.” Using all Tarte products, Douglas patted on Glamazon Pure Performance 12-Hour lipstick in Bold with her fingers to create a light stain, followed by LipSurgence Lip Luster in Delighted to add extra shine.

Anne Hathaway: Forget the expected white gown/red lip combo. “[Her] look was elegant, but still youthful and light. I felt that the makeup should mirror this,” Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee says. She applied the brand’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Sedusicante — a pink with a bluish tint — so the best supporting actress winner’s big smile would act as a “focal point.”

Julianne Moore: Makeup artist Elaine Offers added a modern twist to Moore’s ’60-inspired black-and-white Tom Ford gown with a vibrant hot-pink lip. She used L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Caresse lipstick in Velvety Fuchsia to pop against Moore’s porcelain skin.

Jessica Chastain: Using L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Shine Stain in Berry Persistent, the actress’s makeup artist, Kristofer Buckle, gave the best actress winner a juicy, just-ate-a-popsicle lip look to complete her classic Hollywood makeup.

Jennifer Lopez: One of the few stars not wearing a bright shade, Lopez went bold with her eyes (not to mention that dress!) instead. Mary Philllips kept the star’s lips “very warm and neutral” with L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Shine Stain in Eternally Nude.

Rachel Weisz: Melanie Inglessis gave the star a timeless look with feathery lashes and a cherry pout. Using her ring finger to create a stain-like look, she applied Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in shade #201, which kept the effect modern and youthful.

Claire Danes: Prepare to take notes on how Matin Maulawizada achieved this “early ’90s supermodel pout.” First, he defined the best actress winner’s lips with Laura Mercier lip pencil in Hazelnut, then contoured and shaded them with another lip pencil in Praline. He finished with Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Angelic.

Stacy Keibler: Kathy Jeung planned to create a bold red lip for the star, but she changed her mind last-minute. “After Stacy tried on the dress, we decided to keep the [it] softer,” Jeung explains. “[We kept] it all very fresh [to] accentuate her natural beauty in an elegantly luminous way.” First, Jeung used Victoria Secret’s Pro Pout FX Lip Primer & Definer, then VS Makeup lip liner in Blushing Nude, followed by VS Makeup Color Drama lipstick in Pulse. The finishing touch? VS Makeup Brilliant Lip Shine Extreme in Sunset Strip.
Tell us: Who do you think had that the best lip color of the night?
